Yet More Pictures on the static "March for Free Expression"

Peter Marshall | 27.03.2006 14:39 | London | World

I seemed to have been standing next to Mark. At times there seemed to be more photographers than demonstrators and we probably all have the bruises to show it from when a couple of people threw some food into the goldfish bowl.

Many of my pictures actually showed some of the cartoons, and on my web site I decided I needed to grey these out for the sake of my ISP. I won't post these here either.

There were some excellent speeches, notably by Maryam Namazie and Peter Tatchell.

Again more text and pictures on my own web site for anyone interested.

Just to add.

Just to add.

I also took images on this protest:
 http://www0.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/london/2006/03/336736.html

I was not part of the protest, I'm a photojournalist and member of the NUJ and my aim
was and is to report.

I wrote this before the protest on UK_Left_Network  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UK_Left_Network

Without a doubt the Freedom Association is a very nasty anti working
class and anti trade union far right group that over the years have
tried to build a social base for there right wing ideology. The
Freedom Association has attacked the rights of workers to be in a
union and to defend themselves, there families and jobs.

Grunwick is the big one that all on the left will remember and anyone
that has seen any of the BBC Four documentary's lately on that period
would have seen the leaders of the Freedom Association coming out with
there anti democratic and anti union rubbish. Grunwick has also been
back in the news over the last week in the context of the Labour Party
Treasurer being in the news.

So why would Peter Tatchell (with a very long history in the Labour
movement) and Outrage! want to speak at a Rally that has the likes
these at it? What is going to be the character of the people at this
Rally? What are the true aims of this event?

Peter Tatchell and Outrage! do good work in raising the issues of
homophobia where ever it raises its nasty head and I respect him and
them for that.

And I do not hold with the view by some on the left that Peter
Tatchell is a racist or Islamphobic. But I do think that Outrage! has
taken up some issues in a crude way which has given some the chance to
attack him at times.

The supporting of Simon Huges (pro council housing sell off "Tory") in
the Lib Dem leaderships and now this ill judged move shows a lack of
understanding that needs to be corrected.

Fighting rightwing capitalists and homophobic regimes in the USA or
Iran for that matter and I'm with you.

Speaking from the platform along side the leaders of the Freedom
Association, no!

Great images Peter, I have not shown any of the cartoons images as well for kind of the same reasons. Loving your site by the way! See you on the next demo I’m sure!

Fascists and Warmongers United!

28.03.2006 10:52

The following supported the march -

British National Party
Civil Liberty (a BNP front)
The Freedom Association (racists, anti-immigrant)
The Libertarian Alliance (Ditto)
Nick Cohen - monger, Israel appeaser
David Aaronovitch - monger, Israel appeaser
Harry's Place blog - mongers, Israel appeasers

Does anyone recall the above protesting when Blair launched his attacks on the right to protest? Did they rise up to protect Brian Haw's right to protest outside parliament? Did they lobby against the draconian public order act?

Answer: No, they didn't, because theirs is an alliance of fascists and warmongers that only gives a damn about the right to give Muslims even more to be pissed off about.

Wake up call
