London May Day

On May Day this year "I will form part of a human chain around the Westminster no protest zone but only if 6,000 other people will join in."

Secion 132 Boundary
Secion 132 Boundary

With May 1st only 3 months away and no other major calls to action, a number of us have decided to support the above mentioned pledge - it is a call to action. We will do what we can to defend the rights that so many have struggled to win us.

In case you are unaware, the Blair government has made it illegal (from August last year) to protest in Central London. Free Speech has been banned under what is dubiously called the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA 132, 2005). The legislation is completely vague and according to it, you must now seek police permission before wearing a "SAVE THE WHALES" t-shirt on the London Eye.

Effectively, as Blair's team has done all it can to consolidate power over us they have outlawed freedom of expression in the seat of Democracy.

Well Enough is Enough!

We plan to form a giant human chain around the "No Protest Zone" (see map) on May 1st and express our very very basic democratic right to free speech.

30 odd people have been charged under the legislation, six of whom have been found guilty for doing as little as reading out names of dead soldiers and holding banners.

Sign the Pledge and Join the Human Chain this MayDay
