++ Friday 9th December
A night of song and laughter to reclaim the media, raising money to start an independent student newspaper at City University. Why here at the rampART? Well apparently it's too political for the student union to approve and their student union bar has been privatised !
The confirmed lined up so far includes Sophie Fetocacis, twiddling guitar for your aural pleasure, Sha Ifhar to play you something weird, Tom Clutterbuck to make you laugh and ukulele maestro Katie Parish will be there too.
There'll be a number of films shown throughout the night, so come and support a worthy event for those of you who think the media sucks and bemoan the apathy and apparent lack of political activism in universities...
Starts 8pm. 3 pounds suggested donation on the door.
++ rampART winter games (starts this sunday)
Now that winter is well an truely here you can while away the dark sunday evenings in the cosy library at the rampART and play games with others. A nice quiet evening for playing cards, dominos, go or whatever else takes your fancy. The current plan is this... we advertise that people should come from 6pm and socialise in the library (we'll put some more low tables in there and make sure that a heater gets turned on before people get there ;-). Tea and coffee facilities will be made available - if there is a demand then perhaps we could prepare food or other drink in the future. People bring cards or any game they fancy playing and find other people to play with. We've got a game we were given
by a guest that might be fun to try. It's a homemade game from Switzerland about squatting and unusually it is a co-operative rather than competitive game.
++ rampART free Cinema Night to restart
We now have a fabulous video projector and have ensured that the two dead ones stay out of the landfill for a while longer - they've gone to be repaired or used for spares to keep other projectors going for a few more years. It will take a week or two to sort out getting the beast mounted on the ceiling and build a suitable screen but we will definitly be restarting the weekly cinema really soon and it looks like it will be thursday evenings (not this week but probably next).
