Pedestrian ran over by high speed police car in Camden

Oscar Beard | 30.11.2005 15:06 | Repression | London | World

Just after midday a high speed police car ran over a pedestrian in Camden High Street.

It is uncertain whether the pedestrian is dead but an eye witness said it is doubtful the victim survived.

The eye witness, who did not want to be named, said he heard a police siren and a car speeding up from Mornington Cresent.

As the police car passed him, accelerating as it passed, ahead was pedestrian crossing the road. The police car hit the pedestrian, knocking him over the car, his body smashing the windscreen as he went over.

The police car stopped immediately, the body of the pedestrian lay unmoving in the road.

On journalist said the police stated the victim still breathing.

Police officers intervened and cordoned off Camden High Street for at least an hour.

Fucking PIGS

I dont know whether this story is true or not and exactly what happened but im sure weve all seen police cars speeding through busy areas with the sirens on. What the fuck is their mentality? That its ok to run over people as long as we catch who were after? The police are protected too much and they take full advantage of it. We need a police monitoring group to make sure they dont get away with their crimes. The Black Panther Party had it right in the 60's. Its a shame no1 carries on their fine work.

True of False

Oh it's true all right, unfortunately.

I'm told the deaths caused by speeding police cars this year is more than those killed through gun crime in the city. That has to tell you something is truly wrong here.

I always try to remain impartial in any reporting I do. But, believe me, after this last year and what I have seen and personally experienced, it's getting damn hard these days.

Some police, in my opinion, are out of control, and getting away with.

This will stand no more.

It's time for a change and it's up to us. No more f**king around.

Oscar.

Deaf and Blind? Better than Dumb

Ever wonder why there are low speed limits in busy places? A car going at twice or 3 times the speed limit in one of those places means its got a v good chance of getting to some1 before they get out the way. People may fail toreact for many reasons such as disabilities, old age, carrying too much, or even yes being deaf and blind. But police never really take those things into account

you idiot

other emergency vehicles better driven?

are fire and ambulance drivers better on average than cops? I suspect they are but I can't find any clear comparison stats. anyone able to supply?

Ambulances give a shit, pigs don't.

Yeah, ambulances and fire engines do have a better record, whether you look at it per drive, per capita, per accident (except more fire engine crashes are fatal), per driver, despite driving heavy vehicles (and just as fast, in the case of ambulances).
What could the difference be?
Maybe that some drivers are driving fast in order to _save_ lives (the rest must have far more important reasons).

Lots of figures came out when C4 newsreader Sheena Mac (or Mc?) Donald was run over _on a zebra crossing_ by a cop car a couple of years ago.
Only because of her job did it get into the news.
The police tried to say she was drunk.
There were questions asked but not too many - this sort of stuff falls off the news agenda after a week or so and they know it.

Same shit with Jean Charles de Menezes - an accident surely, but proves they don't give a fuck. Thanks for looking out for us, boys...

Police / fire /ambulance

Ambulances and (espeically) fire engines are a great deal bigger than the average police car — if you're crossing between parked cars or pulling out of a junction you could miss a small cop car whizzing towards you, but a bloody great fire truck is slightly more obvious.

"We need a police monitoring group to make sure they dont get away with their crimes."

The IPCC, anyone? Or is that obviously not independent because it doesn't always say the police are wrong?

The only Independent monitoring group

The only independent monitoring group can be a peoples group. I've been in Britain long enough to know that your country's 'independent' investigations always end up being a whitewash. No doubt the de Menezes one will also be one.
