SOS Allington Road - Residents made homeless next weekend

Allington Road Community | 30.10.2005 15:40 | Culture | Free Spaces | Social Struggles | London

The office Of The Deputy Prime Minister (ODMP) laid down the Decent Homes Standards to improve social housing by 2010, therefore directly benefiting communities. The flip side to this is the destruction of communities in Co-op run social housing. Council’s are repossessing all their properties, effectively making Co-op tenants homeless. Traditional social housing stock is disappearing, Co-ops are facing critical times.

“This is our reality.
Over 30 Housing Co-op tenants who live on Allington Road are to be made homeless on the 4th November by Brent Council.
We have had no offer of alternative accommodation and therefore will find ourselves back on the streets weeks before Christmas.
We have lived in Allington Road for many years. This once neglected, unsafe street has now become a solid, friendly, peaceful community where are neighbours have become our friends. We all built this community and now the Council and Central Government want to rip out it’s very heart.
Please join are campaign, visit us on WWW.allingtonroadsos.org
Together we can make a difference.”
