A group of around 80 people gathered outside Stockwell tube station this morning to remember Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian citizen shot dead by an anti-terrorist police squad last Friday. The vigil was also in protest against police slaying and the draconian use of the new anti-terrorist laws.

The vigil and protest had been spontaneously organised as a reaction to the killing of an innocent man by police special anti-terrorist squad last Friday in Stockwell's tube station. Although it was a dark and wet morning, people gathered outside the tube station from 10 am.

A banner reading 'Stop Killings' was hung at the entrance of the station, whilst a bigger one with the text "Their War Our Dead" was unfurled by some of those present. Candels were lit, and a few speeches were made by some of the people attending the vigil. Specially poignant were the words of the sister of a man that had died in 'police custody' some years back.

There were also present three cousins of Jean Charles de Menezes, that expressed their shock and horror to what happened to their relative. They also manifested their outrage and incredulity about the police operation against their cousin, a completely innocent man that had no links whatsoever with the bombings in London. Eventually a group of protesters holding the "Their War Our Dead" banner made a move to the middle of the road so to stop traffic and make the protest more visible, but this was quickly diffused by the few police present that 'asked' people to move back to the pavement.

Before people left at around midday, there was an announcement for another vigil and protest tomorrow Monday 25 at 6pm outside Stockwell's tube station.

A year has passed. Let's not forget Dobbo and friends and family and all the people who have faced 'bad police decisions'....

Capitalism + Religion = War + Terrorism
Islamic rules are against civilized society, they have already destroyed civilization in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, if you want the proof, ask those with the Islamic appearance in Europe what they think about western way of living? and simple question is why they live in such a society if they disagree with it’s culture and it’s way of living? And why they don’t go to live in Pakistan, Iran or Saudi Arabia which are land of God?
I am against war and I have always been. Those viruses has got nothing to do with Iraq, they just want to take advantage of the situation in there, is completely untrue that majority of Iraqis are Muslim as such, in fact majority of Iraqis have a similar western life style, Iraq is not similar with Afghanistan , Pakistan or Somali.
Those who did such a uncivilized criminal act that has taken life of lots of innocent working people are just viruses, British or non-British born. In order to get rid of the viruses you should demolish the source of virus. The source of this virus has taken advantage of civil liberty in this society to establish itself and grew. There is a small Islamic community which is mainly created by the Pakistani minority in this country. Even similar viruses whom come here from Middle East or North Africa are eased and helped by this community which are obviously are partially born here. This community creates Hatred against civilized and secular society, so the individual who born and grew up in this community are highly likely to become a such a virus regardless of the education they get from state schools, simply because they are fed morally from their family and the community. For the sake of civilized society this community must be demolished ( in a long term ), but in a short time it should be used to crack down the smaller militant (terrorist ) one.
So please at first step follow the French and ban the wearing a scarf ( Hijab ) in schools by young girls which are forced to do so by their family. Secondly cut off all the founds the mosque are getting from the government budgets.
