Update from London Kings Cross station at 15:30

People planning to travel to the G8 protests in Scotland with the train organised by the Resist G8 South East Assembly are now ready to board the train at London's Kings Cross station.

The situation is generally quiet, but police are present in the station and in the platform. At least 6 police cameras are filming everyone that gets on the platform.

There are unconfirmed rumors that one woman has been detained.

We will keep updating as information comes in.

UPDATE: 1422 kings cross - police asking people names and addresses in a quite relaxed way - filming people more now - rumour train will be delayed by one hour due to unrelated fatality on the line (unconfirmed)

LONDON KINGS CROSS 15.00 - now around 60 police at kings cross - train confirmed delayed for one hour due to unrelated event) - atmosphere calm

KING CROSS - 15.30 people asked to get on train at kings cross (its a very old train....) people on board now - seems pretty full 400 approx - expect to depart after 4pm - all calm

UPDATE KINGS CROSS: 15.35 train has departed to loud cheers! (woman reported detained earlier was released and is on train).

An imc camera man tried to film the train about to set off and was surrounded by police and prevented from filming and thrown out of the station - he was given several reasons why he could not film the train- from not having pesission to film in the station to there being an anti-terrorism operation in progress... when he asked well how come the police had and were still filming people in the station he was told that's none of your business. he then left the area having been prevented fully from filming the train

First train has arrived

The first train has arrived in Edinburgh. A solid police presence was there to welcome them, videoing and photographing all those who left the station. At least three vans of police waiting just outside the station, as well as the officers crowding around the stairs from the platform up to the street outside. At least one passenger who had covered their face while coming up from the platform was singled out and followed further up to the street. Passengers appeared to be going straight to the camp sites on the buses provided, but groups of others who decided not to were followed by police officers on foot.

All in all it seems to be mostly about intimidation and providing a daunting arrival.
