ok what is iwca ????
maybe you should say what it is
so people dont have to trawl round the web to find out as not everybody knows its the Independent Working Class Association

mmm after looking at the site i dont mean to be rude but is the IWCA just a bunch of old labour lefties it looks much like it from their site - quote "Discussions on the founding of the Independent Working Class Association started in the mid-1990s, following the removal of Clause Four from the constitution of the Labour Party."
the more i read of their site the more apalling it becomes talkin about their candidates in the general election................shit

THEY ARE A POLITICAL FUCKIN PARTY SAME AS THE REST OF THE POLITICAL SCUM

and if they are why the fuck are they puttin their fund rasing adverts here
I thought Indymedia was against advertising political partys ?!?

confused then angry

Angry it's just a punk rock gig to raise some money and awareness for IWCA. If you don't want to attend no big deal but let people make up their own minds. By the way what do you do for your community?

Indymedia double standards

21.05.2005 15:05

How come that, when I tried to put up a post adversting the wednesday's RESPECT meeting (which i suspect alot of people would be interested in )it was pulled down like a flash. A representive from Indymedia states that no political party is allowed to make postings.

Well if the IWCA awareness gig is not a political party advert then I don't know what is.

Don't get me wrong, it is not that i object to IWCA having postings and i don't want this one pulled, i just wanting to highlight the double standards and the hypocritical nature of the editors.

The difference is it's a Punk Rock gig and not a political meeting. People would have gone to the Respect Meeting for politics while most people going to the IWCA gig organised by an Apolitical Music Site will be there to see the bands. Most the bands playing are either non politcal or associated at most with Anti Fascism. They're doing it to bring working class people together and at the same time do some good. I don't think anyone can really argue the effectiveness the IWCA have been in Oxford and other places. By the way the owner of FFRUK and myself are not linked to any political organisation. Hope that clears that up for you?

apathy in the uk

Unfortunately some times you have to get involved from within. What have Anarchist organisations been doing over the years to make the areas they live in better? In the 37 years I've been in existance on this planet I have never come across an Anarchist organisation at my door. Just because some one tries to change things does not make them a sell out. The only way you're going to change things is by gaining the support of the masses something the Anarchist Movement have yet to discover. Throwing bricks at coppers on demos or quoting Bakunin in a meeting room isn't positve action. Oh by the way no I'm not in the IWCA but can see what they're trying to achieve. Fair play to them at least they're making things better in the areas they are elected and at least in other areas where they aren't elected they're doing something positive. Fair play to them.

The IMC ban on political parties only applies to the SWP and Respect. Do keep up!
