one year of rampART

rampart | 07.05.2005 13:49 | Analysis | Culture | Free Spaces | London

Seems hard to believe but it's almost a year now since the rampART opened. To celebrate, there will be a party on the 21st May (look out for details closer to the time).

In the meantime, rampART is inviting submissions from people who have made use of the space to help reflect on twelve months of activity.

Something a little different

18.05.2005 12:26

From the begining I found the ramparts to have had quite a different atmosphere from the other squat projects found in London. Perhaps this is due to it being home to nobody and that they've maintained a clear rule that the space is run as a non-commerical venue. Having hosted a wide range of politcial and cultural activities, the space can't easily be catogarised in quite the same way as many other projects. It has neither been solely a venue for punk gigs, or a cheap 'alternative' bar, or hangout for anarcho activists, or haven for hippy healers, or exclusive artists play-pen.. but perhaps a bit of all of them.
