Dear Mrs Blair - A video letter to Cherie Blair from Glaswegian mother
Rose Gentle, whose son Gordon was killed in Iraq on 28 June 2004. Gordon
was 19 years old; he'd joined the Army just six months earlier at Pollok
Job Centre.

Rose believes his life was wasted in an illegal and unjustifiable war.
In "Dear Mrs Blair' Rose appeals to the Prime Minister's wife to listen
to her "mother to mother".

FTA (Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland) - documentary about a political
vaudeville-style roadshow which travelled around US military bases
performing to soldiers both in the US and Pacific Rim. The film was part
of the US anti-war effort, encouraging and inspiring soldiers to leave
the army and the Vietnam war.

The film was withdrawn within a week of its release as it appears to
incite disaffection, insubordination and even fragging (the killing of
officers and commanders by ordinary GIs using fragmentation devices,
most commonly the hand grenade) - as Donald Sutherland's speech at the
end of the film appears to suggest.

This event is a fundraiser for six anti-war activists fined #1500 for
aggravated tresspass for protesting at an arms Factory in Brighton last
year. The action was part of a concerted campaign to kick local arms
dealders EDO/MBM Technologies out of Brighton. EDO
MBM's factory on Home Farm Road, Moulescoombe, manufactures bomb racks,
release clips, arming mechanisms and targeting equipment; all of which
has been used in the recent Iraq invasion.

..more on FTA

23.01.2005 20:39

FTA was sent from the Australian group Resistance in the Army (RITA) an organisation agitating for soldiers to dis-enlist in Australia. No known copies could be found in the UK.

The Film is now on underground release in Iraq being passed from hand to hand by US soldiers and also circulating in Fallujah and Mosul among Iraqi security councils (resistance bodies.

FTA is a vital and rare piece of American anti-war history and a
powerful testament to the resistance of thousands of soldiers who
refused to fight and even took up the fight against the US Army and Imperialism by actively attacking commanders and then refusing to put down black urban insurrections in the USA upon their return.

Come out and see it on Wednesday 2nd!!
