Get al those in ESF talk shops to join you and make sure this goes ahead.

With 30 (alleged) activists attending the ESF it would be criminal if this opportunity was missed.

the demo may be 'banned', but that doesn;t mean it's off. there's no law (as yet) against the public (rather than another union) demonstrating in solidarity with workers.

Indymedia servers seized, coaches arrested, demos banned, undercover state trolls...this is freedom of speech. The Mayday demo in Dublin was banned but still went ahead successfully. Certain national newspapers tried to make out the anti-council tax march was called off when it wasn't. The cops are starting to use Section 14 a lot more now to intimidate people ( even with a picket of two )when their not beating protestors up.

If a protest is going to be a PROTEST - fuck the bully boys of the Met.

I've heard that the T & G have called off their support for the march as Canary Wharf threatened to take em to court as it might compomise the security of all those rich bastard stockbrokers that live and work there.

What a suprise. How is Sir Bill these days? was the knighthood for not supporting the Liverpool Dockers eh?

Injunction against demo confirmed

Above is a link to a Guardian story today detailing an injunction by the 'owners' of Canary Wharf against the demo.
As one of the above respondents says, there's nothing to stop the 'public' going along. A good place to garner support would be at the Prince Charles cinema the evening before where Bread and Roses is being shown with an intro by director Ken Loach and a C Wharf cleaner. Its at 6.30pm.

I've read that guardian article. What I didn't like was that they said that the demo has been "called off". I wrote to

letters@guardian.co.uk to take issue with that. My argument is that whilst anyone has the right to organise a demonstration, once a demo has been organised, it belongs to the people, so if the original organisers are no longer up for it (eg because it's been declared 'unlawful') then they don't have take part but at the same time, no one has the right to "call off" a demo. I told the guardian that it's misleading to suggest that the protest has been "called off" because I'm sure it will still be taking place - legal or not and regardless of whether the original organisers will continue their involvement. I asked the guardian if they are being deliberately misleading in order to try to put people of direct action. I'm sure this isn't their intention but I wanted to highlight the problems of the way they reported the legal decision. Demo's can't be called off, no one has the moral or practical authority to do that. I'm sure a demo will stil take place and I wouldn't like to think that people will stay away because they think it's been "cancelled".

Besides, it's only the TGU who have withdrawn support. Globalise Resistance, as far as I am aware, are still promoting the protest. Therefore it has definitely not been "called off".
