.............................................. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to a letter from the Embassy of the Russian Federation to European Animal Welfare, they did not organise any hunting/ killing of baby seals in 2004.

This is OFFICIAL and really GOOD NEWS for all friends of the seal pups.

Let us hope it will be the same again in 2005, - whatever the official reasons given.

References: the letter is dated 14 September 2004 and signed by Sergey Saveliev of the Russian Embassy in Kensington Palace Gardens. Their telephone is [020] 7229 3628

contributions to animal welfare organisations

Every year, I send contributions to animal welfare organisations. Not the European one but the International ones. I understand that various parts of the contributions are used for various purposes; e.g. IFAW people and friends will spend some to go and travel and see what is going on across the world. And also to report it back to their contributors as promised.
Surprisingly they did not let me know anything about this achievement: - No baby-seals being killed in Russia in 2004. Yes, that is good news for me. Congratulations to John of EAW.
