campaign - send them back (freepost) and let them know what you think of it

i just received my 'preparing for emergencies' government booklet in the post.

looking at the backpage i was happy to see a free post address, so i filled in the request for zero booklets in loads of other languages, commenting that it was propoganda that i didn't want, then adorned the envelope with slogans like "the first act of a fascist government is to instill fear in its peaople - the second act is to bring in id cards (watch this space)" and of course adding the indymedia website address. sent the whole lot back 'freepost' to their address "preparing for emergencies, freepost cn2223, croydon, cr9 4wz" - perhaps some heavy objects could be sent freepost to them too? haha

then i came across this wonderful parody site www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk

please be inventive, and show them we don't believe or want this bullshit.

peace

great opportunity lets see more subvertising

Very funny site. Like the Iraq playing cards ( and protect and survive ), I think as soon as a lot of people saw them the first reaction was 'great subvertising opportunity' - expect a lot more similar stuff. The job centre and the council is also providing some booklets that should be subverted. They say 'it's a serious matter' - fuck em - we all know its a pile of shit - it's their problem if they want to make us targets for oil, sell there fucking weapons, steal, sorry privatise the planet for Big business/WTO/IMF and stuffing their back pockets full of filthy cash.

The governments reponse "very concerned that the material on your site will confuse people about the sensitive advice and information that we are giving to the public." Just goes to show how stupid they think we are. Looking at ther BBC news the other day. Darfur not mentioned because important stories like a fountain in Hyde Park, sex lives of the overpaid, and sports results were deemed more important. It's allllll propaganda.

Jam those airwaves. Get out yer paste buckets. etc etc.

http://www.stuffit.org/ is also worth a look. I particularly like their supermarket meat stickers.

I know the 'stop the war coalition' are suggesting that among other things we "Return envelope to sender (Write to: 10 Downing Street, London SW1). Write on the envelope "The best protection against terrorism is a peaceful foreign policy". An interesting idea.
