The issue is in the US the Attorney General is taking Greenpeace (USA?) to court under an ancient and hardly used law, the imposition against the organisation could have implications against direct action protest.
When two activists boarded a mahogany shipping boat, supporting Greenpeace's campaign against the illegal export of the wood from Brazil, they accepted the consequences of direct action, and settled their cases. However the US governent has dug out an old, vaguely written, law of 'sailormongering' which seems to have had more to do with getting prostitutes onto boats over 100 years ago, than direct protest against illegal commercial shipments in the 21st century.
