A theatrical protest and tour of Whitehall to mark one year since the US/UK invasion of Iraq
FEATURING: giant puppets, wigs, costumes, readings, food and the wonderful Theatre of War (www.theatreofwar.org)!
WHERE AND WHEN: Friday 19 March 2004. We assembled at 11:00 at the Edith Cavell Statue, St Martins Place, London (nr. Trafalgar Sq, opposite National Portrait Gallery entrance, nearest tube Leicester Square), and finished around 14:00 with refreshments on Parliament Square.
19 March 2004 marks one year since the illegal invasion of Iraq. We did this:
• to remember the lies, the killings and the protests
• to demonstrate against the ongoing occupation and corporate pillage
• to strengthen our commitment to future acts of resistance
• to celebrate the international anti-war movement
Audience participation was optional (!) but several of us took on a small role on the day (eg. police officer [me!], judge or Antarctic scientist!) I never thought I’d have the priviledge to be acting alongside the man who brought us Ed Straker, Commander in Chief of the Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation (eg: http://ufo.epguides.info/?Role=4380). But yes, that is the great Ed Bishop playing Dubya.
