Camera plea from R2R

R2R | 08.03.2004 00:39 | Indymedia | London

A couple of weeks ago, the Real2Reel video activist collective had it's video camera stollen from the wombles social centre in Kentish Town while helping to prepare the place to resist eviction. It's kinda difficult to be a video activist collective, filming and producing videos without a camera...

Reel2Real is trying to get money together to buy another camera.

For over a year now, Real2Reel has been producing short videos of protests and direct action. From GM crop trashing, asylum issues, anti-nuclear, Fairford, DSEi armsfair and much more, Real2Reel has consistantly been providing material that reflects the diversity, strength, imagination, creativty and joy of our various stuggles (as well as footage useful for defence in court or suing the police).

Real2Reel has also been working hard to improve access to radical video, uploading to indymedia, shown at public screenings, distributed online and on CDROM. Real2Reel is actively involved in the European Newsreal and various other radical video distribution and screening projects.

Needless to say, the people involved in Real2Reel don't get any money for what they do and Real2Reel has no funds to replace the £650 TRV900e that was stolen.

If you appreciate the work of Real2Reel (see  https://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/westcountry/static/video.html or do a search for R2R) perhaps you'd consider helping us get a replacement camera.

If you have some surplus cash, or are part of a group which could make a donation or perhaps even put on a benefit film night or something, please do get in touch.

If you want to really cheer us up, you could pop some dosh straight into our bank account...

I'll put some money in

Sorry to hear about your camera, that sucks. Hope you sort out another soon.

I've seen real to reel films quite a bit at various festival cinemas and local screenings (my favorite is the fairford fences one) and I think the films do a good job in inspiring people to take action. I'll put some money towards a new camera but saddly it can't be much as I don't work.

anyway, good luck with getting the rest of the money together.
