Saturday June 12th 2004, we’re putting on Norwich’s first annual anarchist bookfair. Over the last few years Norwich (the land of Alan Partridge) has built up a good anarchist scene with several active radical groups in the area. Things are going in a good direction here and we thought it would be good to stage an event which would encourage groups from our region to network with national groups and create a more united anarchist movement. By having a bookfair it also gives groups the opportunity to present their ideas to local people who never go down to London for the bookfair there.
The venue is situated within a Victorian park estate, but please don’t let that put you off. As it is situated in a park we will provide an outside children’s space with adult supervision.
Stalls at the bookfair cost £15 for 120x75cm (for lightweights), £17.50 for 150x75 (for those going places) and £20 for 180x75cm (the revolutions only round the fucking corner!). There is a discount of £2.50 offered to each group that can provide a person to help out for an hour. Cheques must be made payable to ‘Norwich Anarchists’. We will not accept empty Special Brew cans as payment.
There will be entertainment in the evening, although this has yet to be arranged.
Overnight there will be a protest camp with a two fold aim. Reason 1. To stick two fingers up to the establishment. Reason 2. To provide sleeping space for loads of people so we don’t have sweaty anarchists clogging up our living room floors. So bring tents, unless you want to sleep under the stars like a child from the summer of love. To find out more contact us nearer the time.
We recommend people book as early as possible as we will allocate tables on a first come first served basis. We’ve already taken several bookings so get your skates on.
