SOCIAL CENTRE up and running! read on...
08.01.2004 15:05
We have occupied a really nice building in Kentish Town. The address is 93 fortess road, London NW5 - about 2 mins walk from kentish town tube. We have already been given eviction papers and a court date for January 21st. This isn't as bad as it may seem as we will be having two events there on January 10th and 17th. The 10th (this saturday) will start at 6pm and will be to promote the idea of social centres, perhaps a discussion, a kitchen will be set-up doing veggie burgers and also a coffee machine. There will also be an anti-copyright cinema showing films and a small-ish sound system. Bring info for the info stall. This event will be to finance and organise for another location. We also intend to formulate a collective, open to all, to give us a permamenet presence as a social centre even without a building. Everyone is welcomed to participate.
On January 17th, there will be an evening event on NO BORDERS, with films, a round table discussion with migrant groups and a discussion of the action(s) on January 31st as part of the Europe wide day of action against borders. Food will hopefully be provided by a somalian refugee family (all proceeds going to them), there will also be music and a late bar.
We will be in the building all week until January 20th, so please pass this invitation on. The WOMBLES meeting will likely be held at the space for the following two tuesdays at 7.00pm.
Cheers and hope to see you there
