Chat on the FORUMS! Not on the NEWSWIRE!

enrager.net | 07.10.2003 13:58 | Analysis | Culture | London

Why fill up the newswire with random chat when there is now a dedicated message board for comments, chat, questions and random discussion?  http://www.enrager.net/forums

The enrager.net forums are designed for anti-authoirtarians to chat about everything under the sun on a host of differnet message boards. We also provide hosting and message boards for most of the major anarchist groups in the UK.

So what are you waiting for? Why waste bandwidth on the indymedia NEWSWIRE talking crap in a space not designed for discussion but for publishing information?

Come to  http://www.enrager.net/forums and start tlaking with similairly minded people.

Please note: the forums are fully moderated and any spam is quikcily removed. Trolls are also banned to ease communication and so discussions dont degenerate into crap.

> So what are you waiting for?
I did not eqlise that there was desperation to fill up Enrager.net forums.

> Why waste bandwidth on the indymedia NEWSWIRE
Your idea of what is bandwidth is wrong. Simple text based dicussions do not take up much bandwidth compared to the multimedia content.
If a post and subsequent comments run for ever (eg: 100 comments) there will be minimal bandwidth usage compared even to one of the images being uploaded.
If IMC is experiencing bandwidth problems then we will get to know of it via the frontpages.
Won't we?

> talking crap in a space not designed for discussion but for publishing information?
Do you have new version of the guidelines that none of us are awre of us on your wall?
This constant 'newswire is for news as we have been brainwashed to perceive as news' rant is dangerously closing in on IMC-UK's effectiveness. Please do not add fuel to the such ignorant fires because you want your poncy forum filled with content.

Maybe you would care to post to imc-uk-features and discuss with them how you may complement IMC-UK if that is what you wish to do.
If you feel strongly about IMC-UK is being kidnapped by some politically correct middle class kids then another thing you could do is to let your concerns be known through comments whereever it matters. Just going awy and doing your own thing leaving the misled kids to abuse the name of Independent Media is not OK.

Mods is this spam?

Is this a private project?

As you only have 87 users on your message board m8 you are hardly a premier site,

For pity's sake, this is a post talking about a grassroots effort to initiate debate about anti-authoritarian politics...this is _exactly_ what Indymedia SHOULD be promoting. It's not selling anything, it's trying to create discussion. That's a _good_ thing!

Your forums suck

Why use open source software developed ourselves when we can get some propriatry crap?

Why be part of an international network of anti authoratrians when we can split off and have our own little club?

Why have a system where anyone can post, when you could collect all the e-mail addresses and sell them to companies/Mi5?

Why build up your own base of surfers when you can just try to nick them off indymedia?

Why have anonymity when you can give spooks easy access to your every thought?

Nice one

I think its a really good idea. Just look at the success of infoshop.org in the US. We need something like this in the UK.

It will be a welcome escape from the negativst, fruitcake, activist bullshit like that posted above by all these nutters who feel threatened because it wont be somewhere they can fuck up with their constant degenarative slagging off of other people.

Small, DIY, intiative taking projects like enrager should be encouraged!

i like!

I like it too

Just that it is irresponsible to leave IMC-UK to rot in the hands of the middle class kids and diverge right now.

My point is mainly that Enrager.net people should get on with IMC-UK first and try and organise it better. Then if there are reasons to fallout it should be given publicity.

I am not being negative just pointing out that I feel there are middle class scum polluting the IMC-UK and the sentiments to migrate emlsewhere is a bit like being told to "goto the speaker's corner".
Being paranoid mecannot help think some one could setup a speakers corner as part of the act of sabotage. Do we even know the Enrager.net was the source of the original post.....

Oh dear...

Sorry... I'm involved in the enrager.net project and I don't know who posted the original ad above but I'm pretty sure it's meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

We like indymedia a lot and don't want to be a "rival" or anything, we just thought that a set of discussion forums for the more non-hierarchical peeps in the anti-capitalist movement would be a good thing.

Better communication... er, is good!

in solidarity,

there is plenty of space on the internet for both indymedia and enrager!

Enrager i hope will be a good space for discussion that we all need - and let indymedia get on with what it does best - creating a space for news, comments on the news and maybe an umbrella link to many other sites in the UK / London - we shoudl all be working together to build a movement that has a diverse media and diverse resourses.

Good luck enrager!

tony

thank you tony!
