Victory For the Oxford Postal Workers!

richarddirecttv | 26.09.2003 08:23 | Social Struggles | London | Oxford

Striking Oxford postal workers won reinstatement yesterday (25.9.03) for their two sacked colleagues.

Members of Oxfordshire CWU voted to return to work yesterday after management was forced into a humiliating climbdown. Two colleagues were sacked on Monday in a deliberate provocation to try to break the union. On Thursday they were reinstated after the postal workers took strike action. At present, London postal workers are scheduled to strike next Wednesday.

After the narrow national 'No' vote against strike action last week, Post Office CEO Allan Leighton declared that "the world has changed." Well, Allan, the world has changed again, and "Another World Is Possible"!

Yay for the posties!

Just goes to show that solidarity works. We can do great things if we stick together :-)
