ammo city Aug 21, 2003, 01:19
ever been to a trade show? it's a great day out and an opportunity to bunk off work for a day or two wandering around aisle after aisle of useless crap that promises to improve your productivity or something like that. let's face it, trade shows are a jolly, an expenses paid perk in compensation for working for a soul sucking corporation who will eventually dip into your pension plan when times get hard and the ceo dumps their shares before coughing up the bad news.
not that we at the ammo city bunker get the opportunity to attend such corporate luxuries. so picture our joy at being invited to attend the defence systems and equipment international (dsei) exhibition and conference to be held at the excel venue in london's docklands. perhaps an over-eager sales rep got confused by our name 'ammo city' and thought maybe we were a hot prospect. for dsei is all about selling 'defence solutions'. that's guns, bombs and stuff that kills people to the plain spoken.
it's a trade show for the paranoid or at least those that are in charge of defending the nation from the countries who can launch an attack against us in around 45 minutes. if you fancied a demo of an ak47 or some such technology then this is the place to go between september 9th-12th. as the largest show of it's kind in europe this is the place where arms deals are done and all the latest tech is on display with salesmen eager to supply. from guns to warships and fighter aircraft, all is promised to be on display for sale to those who can buy
unfortunately, upon enquiry ammo city was unable to secure a few complimentary tickets for our loyal readership so if you want to go and get tooled up it'll cost you £25 assuming you can blag it as a 'bonfide defence and aerospace professional' which is only a matter of filling in a registration form on their website.
of course, if you are appalled by this sort of techno-porn you can always visit the disarm dsei activist website and protest ( http://www.dsei.org/)
