Film and Public Meeting hosted by Thessaloniki Prisoners Solidarity
Tuesday 1 July, 8pm at London Action Resource Centre, 62 Fieldgate Street, London E1
They were attacked by cops during a demonstration against the EU’s summit in Thessaloniki. Unknown to the police at the time, the entire incident was caught on camera, and we hope, helps to build the strongest case possible to drop the charges and set them all free.
The video, which viewers are warned features some harrowing footage, witnesses the brutal attack on Simon followed by footage that clearly captures the police collecting and planting Molotov cocktails on him. It is this … ahem … “evidence” of possession of explosives, together with charges of riot and resisting authority that now see all 8 facing sentences of between 7 and 25 years!!!
Returned activists will report back on the current situation and the meeting will discuss ways to support Simon and show our solidarity with the Saloniki 8.
An International Day of Action for the Saloniki 8 is planned for Thursday 10th July and we will talk about how we can contribute to this.
The meeting is FREE, but suggested donations on the door of £1 unwaged or £2 waged will be sent on to Greece to help Simon buy prison essentials while he is in on remand.
