Although I work in the media, it was my day off and I took my stills camera along. When I got home I was disgusted by the un-balanced reporting of the days events. I hope Indy media can go some way to redressing the balance. (article 1)

Yes, the cops were pretty terrible at the end part of the day, bringing out riot police against people who had spent the last few hours dancing next to trafalger square, telling supporters and those outside from the police lines to go into the actual square and then simply clearing the square, chasing the crowd up two streets with more riot police and attacking quite a few people.
Crazy over the top reactions and violence. But then from the 2pm start they were being well aggressive - shortly after part of the crowd began to move off from the 2pm protest at Lockhead Martin they waded in fully up for it, one person was knocked unconscious as police flung him into a metal barrier. A short series of violent scuffles with cops lashing out at both protestors and press.
Those left at endell st, prevented from following the breakaway group, were held for ages and then during the rest of the afternoon slowly escorted in tight formation towards the 'legal' protest area of traf square.
A good deal of the afternoon however saw the large breakaway crowd marching with glee where ever they liked around central london with a mobile soundsystem, samba band, costumes, and plenty of carnival noise.
Plenty of running and changing direction leading towards 4pm and increasing police activity.
In short the streets were taken, crowds surged around london, visiting leicester square, whitehall, parliament, - all over the place.
But after a day of taking to the streets the police reaction in the end was to deploy hundreds of police and riot police to surround a crowd who were dancing.
Fuckwits!
