Expose Blair's Hypocisy on UK Hostage!!!

Blair is lapping up the publicity, on one hand appearing tough on terrorists, and on the other appearing compassionate to the family of British Hostage Ken Bigley.
The truth is very different. The bloodthirsty fools who took the hostages, and killed two so far, have NOT asked for the release of Saddam's evil chemists.
They have asked for the release of large numbers of innocent women still held in Iraqi jails, where brutal treatment and humilitation are heaped upon them.
Rather than admit that the UK government is helping to cover this up, Blair and Bush are prepared to let another innocent man die at the hands of brutal fanatics.
We shouldn't be pleading with Blair to help, we should be kicking his ass. Read more >>

Liverpool City Council preparing stock transfer of 21,500 council houses to RSLs

RE-POSTED

Liverpool City Council (Lib-Dem controlled) has been softening up tenants for Stock Transfer, already the glossy leaflets have been delivered, firstly those glossy full colour leaflets that went out a few months ago said that an ALMO (Arms Length Management Organisation, which is one step privatisation) isn't possible, they've also said a PFI (Private Finance Initiative) isn't possible either, thus leaving tenants with the fait-accompli Lib-Dem decision of Stock Transfer or nothing. Arrests for all offences proposed

All offences could prompt arrest under Home Office proposals

Police in England and Wales could be given powers to arrest people for minor offences such as graffiti or litter.

Police can currently arrest people only for crimes with sentences of at least five years, meaning breach of the peace is often used as a "catch all" offence. Read more >>

LET US DECIDE - the case for council housing (Liverpool has 21,000 remaining)

LET US DECIDE (from Guardian 29th June 2004)

Tenants have the right to affordable, secure housing that is provided by the council - not private companies

Tenants all round Britain are intent on defending council housing against a government dogmatically committed to privatisation. Decent, affordable, secure and accountable housing provided by the local council has served generations well. And contrary to myth, it pays for itself - if all the money it brings in is reinvested. In Camden, my rent for a three bedroom flat is £85 per week. In the wake of the right to buy policy, the same flats go for over £250,000. Many are now owned by private management companies who rent them out for £300 a week. Housing Association rents in Camden are much higher than the council; and they have an appalling record on repairs and how they treat tenants. Read more >>

ALTERNATIVE VOTES IN LIVERPOOL - ie NON-MAINSTREAM Pro-CAPITALIST PARTIES!

Freedom of speech and censorship...

So someone mentions the local elections in Liverpool article on "ALTERNATIVE VOTES", and we inform one another of who's standing where ie the non-mainstream parties, ie the ones without megabucks or media/press backing. Yes so now I know there is a Communist standing, people know there are 6 not 5 SLPers standing, then of course we know there is Democratic Socialist Alliance, then we know there is a party called 'Liverpool Labour Community Party', OK so it's taken off the main page, which I disagree with, then it's taken off the Liverpool Newswire as if it didn't exist, so tell me something what makes Indymedia any better than the capitalist/establishment media/press who deny working class people coverage of our daily lives and struggles, like Thomas McKay who's facing eviction, who deny working class organisations fair and balanced coverage.

The article "Alternative votes", so tell me what makes Liverpool Indymedia any better than the Liverpool Echo / Daily Post, or the BBC or ITV? One of the fundemental UN human rights is the right to freedom of speech, providing it doesn't encroach on the rights of others, ie racist propaganda, anti-muslim, anti-catholic or anti-protestant, sexist, homophobic, ageist, or even that one our wonderful bourgeois (middle class) society chooses to overlook "CLASS PREJUDICE", so tell me Liverpool Indymedia, you block, censor and deny freedom of speech to parties who aren't part of the capitalist system, sure they're hierarchical, just like the family is heirarchical, ie a mother and a father, head of the household. Just like Indymedia is heirarchical, at least I can complain to the press complaint commission if I'm bothered, I can complain to the Liverpool Echo's editor, or I could organise a protest and encourage the press/media to give a issue coverage. So tell me Liverpool Indymedia who are the shadows in the dark deciding what postings get censored, and which one don't get censored??? Who do I appeal to, what's his/her name, etc... Read more >>

Justice For Tenants - Fighting for working class people in Liverpool!

A tenants' direct action campaign group!

The tenants in Liverpool and Merseyside are sick of the injustices. The councillors whether they're Labour or Liberal-Democrat simply don't care about throwing us out into the private sector they're not tenants themselves! Councillors are giving away our land, our homes, our streets, our neighbourhoods and our communities for 'FREE' to undemocratic and unaccountable private landlords it is 'our' public property not for them to give away through rigged ballots or no ballots at all.
