For good reasons I'm not going to name names here but I'm deeply suspicious of the MDL. At least one of the "major" players behind the MDL has an agenda that has alot more to do with the failure of his main career path and a need for moral self-justification than it has to do with responding constructively to Islamophobia. That person has a long history of deeply irresponsible behaviour and frankly zero leadership skills - the kind of opportunist who is willing and able to start a fire when he thinks he can benefit from the publicity, but who has very poor political judgement and no experience of real political organisation, or in fact of leading anyone anywhere. Of course young Muslims are entitled to defend themselves but UAF's decision to get involved with certain MDL people is potentially disastrous. UAF have been warned about this person and have actively chosen to ignore those warnings.

You had a lot of support in town from white and black. The edl fear black involvement against them, and it was there. Not just somalian, plenty of other blacks were running the edl in some parts of town. But it needs numbers and it needs leaders.

I saw some good mdl lads in town, but numbers too limited. And some of you need to drop any of this jew shit, I've got some jewish blood and I hate the edl.

If you lot in the fields had come down it would have been a different story. But the edl won't come back here, you need to take it to them, maybe if they go Peterborough. This is now a street war, they need to be knocked down fast.

mdl seriously need some good organisation in leicester. in other towns even when not organised they ran edl out or smashed them up like in birmingham.

i agree we need to situate at st georges next time - we cover everything on this side from st matrhews and highfields. then have groups all round. the mdl leadership or the imams asked not to take action - but its very sad that others had to take the heat protecting them while they stood around the mosque. next time mdl should leave the mosques and situate nearer town.

the edl fear black involvement. but only way we succeed is if everyone works together, although it should start with mdl getting there act together first, others will join in. imams are in hard position as they can't be seen to "incite violence". hence followers should not blindly listen when they say just defend the mosques, because doing that leaves other innocents exposed

peterborough will get good support from bengali community and black support.
