The UAF/SWP are wrong in calling the EDL the BNP. The UAF/SWP should change their placards and chants to EDL = UKIP and stop shouting "EDL = BNP = National Front". The EDL mantra is Black and White Unite...it is futile to keep calling them racist.
As for the UAF/SWP claiming that they are fighting class war ...Get out of our faces! The UAF/SWP are all middle class and the EDL are moslty working class...HOWEVER the people behind the scenes are middle class and well off. As usual.
The anarchists meanwhile are divided on this one...some are pro EDL, some against and some are still sitting on the fence.
It is interesting that the UAF/SWP have NEVER addressed the fascism of Radical Islamist groups like Hizb-ut-Tahrir who most moderate Muslims don't want in a town near them.
The UAF/SWP need to wake up to and own up to the fact that [Chris Renton aside], the EDL are not the BNP or associated with them. It's UKIP not the BNP that seem to be on the political side of the EDL.

Note that Lawson bloke on facebook lists his political affiliations as "BNP/EDL activist".
And also it's not the central issue. The fact is they are a reactionary far right, racist, and anti trade union bunch of scabs bank rolled by rich businessmen. Their foot soldiers are working class lads, but when they attack Muslims (see link above) we need to moblise locally in self defence.

I think maybe they have forgot what libertarian, anti-nationalism, pro-free speech, anti-fascism means. I dislike the SWP/UAF and have serious issues with how they are framing this fight but to actively support the EDL is far from anarchistic.

union membership is only about 15% in the private sector, compared to what 45-55% in the public?
then again, it's the private sector businesses that tend to go ape shit if a member of staff joins one or starts recruiting.
i wonder if union membership is going up, or they are worried about it in going up, with profits being squeezed and wages being frozen during the recession?
maybes some businesses are finding there backs is against the wall, and are investing a bit of cash a few street goon movement to keep the workers down.

And if you still don't believe me just check the You Tube Friends list of the EDL London Division. Friends like "BNPCrusade", "IndieBNP", "BNP4EVER1989", "XBNPXTRUTHX", "BNPxTRUTH" and other BNP supporting friends like "StBritish" and "BritishWarLord" etc suggest anything in this context?

And absolutely NO anarchists are "pro EDL" you lying moron - the person who posted this article is a transparent EDL troll. As for Joel Titus, this idiot had a Combat 18 activist on the Friends list of his "English Defence Youth" You Tube channel, and the guy's so thick it took me 2 weeks of corresponding with Joel Titus to convince him that being friends with violent Nazis wasn't a great idea

Annon seems to have made the wrong link

In saying that the EDL are not linked to the BNP but are linked to UKIP, Annon misses a glaringly obvious link: the BNP, EDL and UKIP are linked.
Which makes sense in a practical way. The Far Right is a series of interlocking, feuding groups who are bound to cross over sooner or later. What is interesting is to see who is related to whom in other areas of the Right. Such as the NF, BPP, BNP, UKIP, Tories and so on. Not to suggest some vast overarching conspiracy. To illustrate just how fragmented the Right really is. Because it will become unified soon.
