The plight of the Iraqi people was the main focus of debate at the US based Holocaust Memorial Museum. The debate was centred around those in Iraq, facing persecution by the self-declared Islamic State.

Some points made by Naomi Kikoler at the live debate "Iraqi Minorities in Peril", which took place on the 9/11/2015 at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Naomi stressed the need to document the crimes of ISIS/ISIL, the need to address the involvement of Western fighters within the Iraq Crisis and their role in the ethnic cleansing of Iraqi minorities, with the view of prosecuting perpetrators for war crimes, in the International Criminal Court.

"...We must hold perpertrators responsible, tackle hate speech and improve education to establish a plural and diverse society of the future."

Naomi also highlighted that a post-ISIL Iraq, should give more focus to religious freedom, quality education, tighter laws to prevent hate speech, along with a greater Government emphasis, on addressing both economic and social inequalities across Iraq as a whole.
