In September there were a number of protests against the DSEI arms fair. Some in the week before during the set up and others during the event itself. We have now been able to compile the numbers and they make for depressing reading.
DSEI continues to strengthen its position as the world's largest arms fair
This year’s event attracted record numbers visitors and exhibitors
.
DSEI 2015 surpassed all previous records:
• 34,038 visitors - up 6% from 32,169 in 2013
• 1,683 exhibitors representing 54 countries - up 13% from 2013
• 42 international pavilions - up from 40 in 2013
• 255 Official Delegations - up 61% from 2013
• 2,874 VIPs in attendance from 84 countries - up 9% from countries represented in 2013
The organisers had a reduced security bill for the event. In 2013 the Met charged £987,000 to ensure security at the show. A FOI request reveals the 2015 cost to be £748,000
In 2013 2,600 security guards were supplied by G4S but this was reduced to 1,980 for this year, we do not know the costs of this.
