Indymedia Ireland concerns

The Indymedia Ireland site has been down now for over a week , the editorial list has been closed and all communications to the site are currently being answered by automatically generated messages.
Earlier this year, Indymedia Ireland closed its archives saying that in future it would only archive posts and editorial actions taken after February 2015 .The fact that the site's list moderator and editors are not answering messages to the site nor responding to emails has led some Indy readers, contributors and former editors to fear that the site may have closed down altogether .
Indymedia Ireland had been getting up to a half a million hits a day up until 2008 , but recently traffic to it had slowed down dramatically with three or four days sometimes passing without a single comment or article appearing on the once-vibrant site.
There has been speculation that the drop in hits has been in response to editorial backing for Pat Corcoran , who had been a site moderator from 2008 up until being convicted on paedophile offences nearly three years ago . In the years he had been a moderator ,between 2008 and 2011, Corcoran ,who edited under the moniker, "IMCDalek" was on still- to- be-explained police parole. His fellow moderators claimed to have had no knowledge of Corcoran's arrests up until the time of his conviction and that ,despite his conviction , he had been a good Indymedia moderator.
