Promoted by the new Global People Power campaign, the demonstration is being held in solidarity with twenty four events taking place around the world as part of the Global Week of Action for a World Parliament. Demonstrators will be pioneering face-to-face global democracy. They will also be invited to recognise and celebrate their common humanity in the face of a perfect storm of global problems.

Anti-austerity, pro-democracy campaigners and politicians will propose global policies to be debated and voted on by demonstrating pioneers. The purpose of the day is highly ambitious; to try to agree on five provisional global policies to tackle global problems – problems such as mass extinction, war, gender inequity, climate change, internet privation, debt based economics and the divisive power that multi-national corporations hold over national governments.

Laura Barker (Global People Power). “Let’s connect and empower progressive anti-austerity, pro-democracy movements around the world through creating global policy together.”

Barnaby Flynn (Global People Power). “Internationally cooperative policies are needed to solve global problems such as climate change, mass extinction, debt slavery, war and gender inequality and to tackle the divisive power that multi-national corporations hold over national governments.”

Speakers so far:
Natalie Bennett (Green Party Leader - England and Wales). “Global policies such as GATS, TTP. TISA and TTIP and why global governance should be democratised.”
Marina Prentoulis (Syriza London). “Global unity for systemic solutions to systemic problems.”
Barnaby Flynn: New e-democracy platforms.
