The revolution begins May 7th, come and join us.

Memories of the Zapata | 04.05.2015 19:16

On Thursday join us for the carnival against repression.

Every day this country is moving closer and closer to a full police state with repressive violent policing now a daily experience for Black people, for Muslim people, for LGBTQ people and most of all for Working Class people who represent the major threat to the Tory / Labour political elite.

The election is a farce, the 'result' has been pre-determined. Cameron, Milliband, Clegg and the rest no more than puppets of the military-industrial complex that is the real power broker in this country.

On Thursday evening we intend to say "enough !" We are going to stand up and we are going to be heard. We will be assembling at 5.30pm outside of the former site of Brian Haw's inspired, brave campaign to highlight war crimes by the British government across the globe and then when we are ready (not when the police give permission) we will be marching, those taking part will be told where too by word of mouth at the time but get ready for a revolution. We are going to change this country for ever on Thursday.

Ask yourself - "why am I voting ?". If you don't think your vote counts join us.

Dream on Sparty.

Reality Check

Revolution ? I don't think so

Be realistic, you know what will happen. The usual slow march with SWP 'stewards' making sure nobody steps out of line followed by speeches from people making the usual platitides.

Realist

I take issue with your comments

You said above,

"Every day this country is moving closer and closer to a full police state with repressive violent policing now a daily experience for Black people,.... "

Speaking as a Black Londoner I have to say that is simply rubbish. Firstly we are nowhere near a police state, I write as somebody who has lived in one. Secondly the police may be far from perfect but the interaction betwen the Black community and the Police in London is a long, long way from what it was twenty years ago.

This country is already a police state. London especially. 24hr full on CCTV, armed police, surveillance etc.

I do agree that the police are dealing better with black people and minorities. But that is not the mark of a police state, and many black and asian people, particularly Muslims, have a very hard time with the police, and many of the customary laws of 'innocent until proven guilty' have been eroded.

Elections won't change anything. we all know that.

Maybe this demo wont actually lead to a revolution, but its a step.

"This country is already a police state"

07.05.2015 04:40

No it's not. I grew up in the DDR (East Germany) and saw what a true police state is. The UK has a lot of CCTV but not many of them are monitored by the state. We have no police spies in our workplaces or our apartment blocks, we are free to come and go as we please. The UK is not a police state.

Police state UK

You may have grown up in the GDR, but that doesn't change anything. There are different models of police state. GDR did not have sophisticated cyber technology that we now have. GDR had a different ideology.

The UK is a de facto police state, altho unlike in the GDR people haven't realised it yet. They will and are coming to realise it.

Whether you grew up in GDR or Africa makes little difference mate. There are secret police infiltrating activist groups already. remember Marco??

the UK police state model is not the same as GDR or as the former Eastern Bloc. But its starting to feel like that for many people.

No I do not. Your posts make clear to everyone except you the depth of your ignorance on this issue. I have lived in a police state and it was nothing like the UK is now. Please stop posting and embarrising yourself any further.

11 people

08.05.2015 11:17

The total number of people who attended this march was 11. So much for a start to the revolution !

Dave

and who are you??

09.05.2015 17:55

so you've also lived in the USA?

this 'oh i've lived under x and y, so i'm the expert' is a bit tiring.

There is a lot wrong with the UK, and what your experiences were in the GDR, if you are'nt just making them up, is neither here nor there.
