Heartless Guzzlers at the public trough @B_I_tweets

So far 49 DWP investigations into deaths related to benefit sanctions - add to that a massive growth in the use of food banks by the sanctioned and we have the grim picture of poverty in the UK. The kick ‘em when their down approach to behavioral modification was "invented" by the Behavioral Insights Team at one time embedded in the Cabinet Office.

Here they are BIT - the Behavioral Insights Team - the people that brought you the Claimant Commitment and Sanctions. All part of MINDSPACE - their behavioral modification scheme.

So far 49 DWP investigations into deaths related to sanctions - add to that a massive growth in the use of food banks by the sanctioned and we have the grim picture of poverty in the UK. The kick ‘em when their down approach to behavioral modification, but don’t worry - tuck in at the trough of the public purse. That food they’re scoffing is largely paid for by tax monies ‘rescued’ from the destitute poor, I mean what do the poor want with food? - they can just fuck off and die.

Using a rag bag of behavioral science, anthropology and other social sciences a la Eddie Bernays, these creeps have formed a business aimed at policy makers and corporates, embedded in the Cabinet Office and now other gov.uk departments - they use research which shows that behavior can be changed in various ways.

In the case of the Claimant Commitment its about you making a contract with gov.uk and ‘failure’ to meet conditions in the contract means you’ll get the sanctions regime. This is what these spoilt and privileged brats call a “negative incentive” or loss - apparently humans will be more inclined to act in the way you want them to if you make the incentive a loss. Loss of life in many cases - well at least they’re off benefits - tuck in!

Human behaviour is fundamentally unpredictable and the nudges sometimes have unintended consequences.
