Georgia will not let South Ossetia receive money from the transit of oil through Baku – Supsa pipeline



Noteworthy, it was Mr. Herman who proposed the move, obviously with the consent of his seniors. Actually, if Georgia had accepted the proposal it would have been the first demonstration of good will towards the people of South Ossetia over a long period of time. It would have showed Georgia’s intention to provide all-round financial assistance to those whom it in word considers its citizens. And by the way it would have been in total accord with the stated plans of Georgian government to economically reintegrate the seceded regions. Nonetheless minister Zakareishvili believes that European experts, who consult Mr. Herman, drew wrong conclusions, and the initiative will not foster the restoration of territorial integrity of the country.

So, official Tbilisi has once again confirmed what all people of sound judgment know for sure, i.e. the statements of Georgian leaders about financial assistance to the peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia are meant for the ears of European officials. While the Georgian strategy of development provides for no other measures, except the military ones, to return the seceded regions…
