Saturday 21st March 2015 was UN anti-racism day and saw demonstration around the world. There was a demonstration in Scotland’s largest city Glasgow which assembled in George Square in the city centre and then marched around the downtown with a huge and colourful assortment of placards and banners before returning to George Square to hear a number of speakers including Scottish National Party MSP (Member of Scottish Parliament) Humza Yousaf and Labour Party MP Anas Sarwar.

There were numerous other speakers including Glasgow Human Rights lawyer Aamer Anwar, journalist Yvonne Ridley, Green Party councillor for Glasgow Hillhead Martha Wardrop, Marcela Adamova Oxfam Scotland development worker for the Roma people, Angela McCormick lecturer and activist, Larry Flanagan of EIS (Educational Institute of Scotland) and activist Daniel Kebede.

It was estimated that 2,500 people had taken part while the BBC Scotland Website report gave a figure in the hundreds:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-32003430

There was also a very large demonstration in London which does not seem to show on the BBC website. It was reported on the Socialist Worker website:
