The North West Alliance was formed by ex-members of an EDL group called the Welsh Defence League. The WDL was founded by Casuals United organiser Jeff Marsh, but collapsed after the morons that ran it posted photos of themselves all over Facebook showing their Nazi tattoos and showing them making Nazi salutes.

Campaign groups have criticised members of a far-right faction after they held an event in memory of murdered soldier Lee Rigby. The North West Alliance Gogledd Cymru staged what police said was a peaceful event in Deeside on Saturday, before going on to Chester and Ellesmere Port. The organisation has an anti-Islam demonstration planned in Llandudno in August, but regional organiser Mervyn Jones – from Connah’s Quay – said the weekend’s event was purely to pay respect... Mr Jones, 50, said 24 North West Alliance members made the short walk from Connah’s Quay baths to the town’s cenotaph on High Street to lay flowers for the father-of-one, who was from Greater Manchester.

The North West Alliance Gogledd Cymru was formed after the English Defence League’s Deeside division was disbanded in the wake of an arson attack which destroyed Shotton Lane Social Club, which had been earmarked as the site for an Islamic culture centre by the Flintshire Muslim Cultural Society. Mr Jones said EDL supporters from Deeside decided to join up with other anti-Islam groups from over the border as they share a common goal – stopping the 'disease' of Islam in Britain.

A Shotton man branded a sexual predator and has been jailed for 17 years today at Mold Crown Court. Mervyn Jones, 53, of Rowden street, Shotton had denied 13 offences of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault against four children. The offences dated back to the 1990’s but he was unanimously convicted by a jury at Mold Crown Court in December 2014. Jones was convicted of six charges of rape, one charge of attempted rape and six charges of indecent assault. Judge Rhys Rowlands said - "You have no comprehension of the way in which you were meant to behave as a grown man towards young children, or the harm you have caused the victims."
