Shows. Conferences. Dinners. Congresses. ‘Expos': London has them all. Each year, the capital is host to countless corporate gatherings, where our enemies can safely indulge in marketing their latest technology, make alliances and customers, and share information (about the market, its threats and the clientèle). In short, these are spaces where they can build their power and profit, taking place right under our noses – for the most part unchallenged. And it is this local passivity that makes London such an attractive venue for investment and corporate socials.

Here is just a snapshot of such gatherings taking place in London over the next year:
(go to website for links & more info on each event)

15-17th October: MIPIM, the world’s largest property fair, Olympia. See here for counter protests that are being organised.

21-22nd October: The Commercial UAV Show, Olympia.

17-18th November: World Oil Assembly 2014, Lancaster Hotel.

18th November: Oil Awards of Excellence Dinner, Supernova.

26th November: The FT Banking Summit: Ensuring Future Growth, The InterContinental.

23rd March: Oil Council’s Legal Assembly (private gathering of lawyers and legal advisers to fossil fuel industry).

21-22nd April: Counter Terror Expo, Olympia.

21-22nd April: Forensics Europe Expo, Olympia (the same weekend & venue as Counter Terror Expo).

16-18th June: Oil Companies Congress, Bishopsgate.

15-18 September: DSEi, the world’s largest arms fair, Excel Centre.

The first of these events will be met by disruption; on 15th October, outside Kensington tube, people will be gathering at 9am to #blockboris, who’s due to deliver the opening address at the MIPIM conference.

We hope this will be just the first in a series of mobilisations against these gatherings over the next year.
