Sheffield protest in solidarity with the oppression in Palestine

Supporters of the Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign held a protest outside Sheffield Town Hall on 5th July 2014.
















The call out for the protest:

Please join us at the solidarity protest outside Sheffield Town Hall tomorrow, Saturday the 5th July, at 12.30pm called as the Palestinians face more Israeli onslaught in the wake of the killing of three Israeli settlers.

Warplanes continue the bombing of Gaza and bulldozers demolish houses in the West Bank, as Mohamed Abu Khdeir, 16, becomes a victim of the call for revenge by Israelis.

The protest has been called by Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign and is supported by Sheffield Stop the War Coalition.

True but as can be seen by how few people turned up the racist and antisemitic views of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign are ignored by the overwhelming majority of the population.

Meanwhile the free democratic inclusive Israel continues to prosper.

free as a country that needs billions of US dollars and friends on Capitol Hill to continue its deluded racist existence

democratic as a country that won't give up its occupation of Palestine but whose only solutions for the Palestinian population it rules over are expulsion or Israelisation

inclusive as an Israeli settlement on Palestinian land peopled entirely by Jewish colonists, who may well believe their right to be there is God-given

Free democratic elections with a fully elected judiciary and parliment

Constitutional protection for gays, lesbians and transgender persons (including entry into military and police service)

Legal protection for women with laws to ensure they can not be compelled to wear clothing they object to.

Recognition for all faiths with Muslims and Christians holding positions in parliment, business, the law and military.

Remind me again of what Hamas offers ?

Hamas - their problems

Hamas is currently almost entirely isolated in the Arab world. Their bank accounts are nearly empty and they can no longer pay the estimated 40,000 people who take their cheque every month. FATAH continues to make political gains and the Palestinian people no longer have the ideological hatred of Israel that Hamas has relied on for so long. Israel is able to defend itself succesfully against most rocket attacks and strike back at will on Hamas sites when required.

Hamas needs a war and it needs it fast which is why the three teenagers were abducted and killed, the fasct that some nutjob settler only added to the tension was just a benefit for them.
