Welsh drone protesters enter new drone test centre, Llanbedr airfield, to protest use of armed drones
Am 6.00 a.m bore heddiw ( Mehefin 13 ) torrodd aelodau o Gymdeithas y Cymod i mewn i Faes Awyr Llanbedr ger Harlech
gan beintio'r geiriau 'DIM ADAR ANGAU' ar y lanfa. Yr oedd hyn mewn protest yn erbyn y ffaith fod Cwmni QinetiQ wedi arwyddo cytundeb gyda Llanbedr Airfield Estates i ddefnyddio'r Maes Awyr i ddatblygu ymhellach awyrennau di-beilot fydd yn cynnwys y 'Watchkeeper UAV', awyren filitaraidd sydd yn eiddo i'r Weinyddiaeth Amddiffyn. Y mae hyn yn rhan o ymgyrch Cymdeithas y Cymod yn erbyn datblygu rhyfela robotig sydd yn creu cymaint o ddychryn a lladd ymhlith pobl gyffredin mewn gwledydd fel Pacistan ac Affganistan.
Fe fydd ychydig o aelodau'r Gymdeithas yn protestio hefyd o flaen y Brif Fynedfa i'r Maes Awyr am 8.00
At 6.00 this morning, June 13, members of Cymdeithas y Cymod ( Fellowship of Reconciliation ) entered Llanbedr Airfield near Harlech and painted the words NO DEATH DRONES on the runway. They were protesting at the fact the company known as QinetiQ have signed a contract with Llanbedr Airfield Estates enabling them to develop further their UAV ( Drones ) - Unmannaed Ariel Vehicles programme which includes the 'Watchkeeper ' , a military UAV owned by the MOD. This is part of Cymdeithas y Cymod ongoing campaign against the further development in robotic warefare that is killing ordinary people in countries like Pakistan and Affganistan.
Some members of Cymdeithas y Cymod will also be protesting outside the main gate to the airfield am 8.00 am

Brainwashing our children about drone technology
16.06.2014 16:16
There was a children's workshop in Newport on Saturday 14th June teaching them how to programme drones and also teaching them about 3d printers. The next workshop that will be run will be teaching them about wearable technology.
The workshops are being run at The Project Space, an empty shop taken over by Newport City Community Arts team based at the Riverfront theatre (who last year had sponsorship from Cassidian for their workshops and the previous year for prize money for a kids dance competition)
Please read the following article which explains way better than I ever could just why this is so distasteful: http://dronewars.net/2011/09/17/drones-for-peace/
The workshops are run by Nick Theodorou from the Alacrity Foundation, a Terry Matthews (of Celtic Manor, Newport) charity with links to Digital 2014 whose sponsors include qinetiq. See: http://business.wales.gov.uk/digital2014/content/sponsors-and-contributors-digital-2014
Sponsors of Digital 2013 at the Celtic Manor also included Cassidian (drones and surveillance, was part of EADS, now Airbus).
