"There will be a national demonstration and free festival against austerity cuts on Saturday the 21st of June"

Which will be attended by less than 0.1% of the population while 99.9% of the 'people' choose to do something else with their lives. With this in mind what gives you the right to speak for the 'people' ?

Why us ?

12.06.2014 14:56

History shows us that in the context of revolutionary struggle, vanguardism is a strategy whereby the most class-conscious and politically advanced sections of the proletariat or working class, described as the revolutionary vanguard, form organizations in order to draw larger sections of the working class towards revolutionary politics and serve as manifestations of proletarian political power against its class enemies.

Does that explain things for you ?

I'm intending to go to this and certainly don't want to put anyone off but it should be noted that 'The' Peoples Assembly has stolen our language/clothes (yet again) in the age old style of the SWP - Counterfire is made up of ex SWP - and is a pro state group. A peoples assembly it is most definately not. Their founding statement states " We have a plain and simple goal: making government abandon its austerity programme. If it will not it must be relaced with one that will".
