Oklahoma Governor Thanks Witnesses After Botched Execution

"So I appreciate you coming today and thank you for your attendance," said Oklahoma (USA) Governor Mary Fallin before leaving the room and not responding to any questions regarding the prolonged botched execution.

In the USA (aka, The Land of The Free) the Governor of Oklahoma thanked with appreciation all the witnesses that had gathered to watch the execution of a convicted murderer Clayton Lockett, which resulted in yet another prolonged (45 minutes) botched execution in The Land of The Free.

While state executions in The Land of The Free (aka, the land that preaches human rights to the rest of the world) are legal, the law states that executions must not amount to 'cruel and unusual punishment'.

"We have a fundamental standard in this country that even when the death penalty is justified it must be carried out humanely," said White House spokesman, Jay Carney.

Meanwhile, the President of The Land of The Free, Barack Obama, has called the botched execution "deeply troubling" and announced that he is going to ask the Attorney General Eric Holder and others, to analyze problems surrounding the application of the death penalty in the United States of America (The Land of The Free).

President Obama also said the death penalty's application in The Land of The Free is "problematic" with evidence of racial bias and eventual exoneration of some death row inmates.

"What happened in Oklahoma's botched execution is deeply troubling," President Obama said when asked about International condemnation of the USA's application of the death penalty in light of the latest botched execution.

A spokesman for the United Nations human rights office in Geneva, Rupert Colville, said Lockett's prolonged botched execution could amount to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment under International human rights law. Colville said this latest botched execution was the second problematic execution in the USA this year with untested combinations of drugs.

"The apparent cruelty involved in these recent executions simply reinforces the argument that authorities across the United States of America should impose an immediate moratorium on the use of the death penalty and work for abolition of this cruel and inhuman practice," Colville told reporters.

The state of Oklahoma had refused to provide the source of the execution drugs, citing state law that allows such details to remain confidential.

God Bless America when it stops blessing itself !!!

America's Secret Execution Procedures

07.05.2014 00:15

Interesting Article by The Guardian:

Europe taught America how to end the death penalty. Now maybe it finally will.
 http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/may/05/america-end-death-penalty-finally

Europe's boycott is the reason U.S. states are experimenting with new lethal injection drug protocols. It's the reason they are fighting to protect the secrecy of their sources. It's the reason they are considering far more controversial methods of execution. Those developments may seem desperate and dangerous for blood-thirsty U.S. states to speed up executions, rather than slow them down. Americans are a litigious bunch, and new avenues of attack on experimental drug cocktails and the shroud of secrecy surrounding their use could bog down the administration of the death penalty for years.

When it comes to the death penalty, the United States today is what South Africa was in the 1980s. It is the subject of a targeted boycott of goods based on behavior that the rest of the world views as immoral. That's a mighty strange place to be for the self-declared leader of the free world.
