A trust aimed at documenting theyyam and also promoting it in the international circuit was launched in kannur. The president of the trust A Nambiar said that financial assistance would be provided to the theyyam artists. Though they have a rich tradition of folk arts, no serious efforts have been made towards its docummentation and the trust aims to fill that vacuum,he added. Apart from the audio and visual documentation of ritual and artistic performance of theyyam and related art forms,we will bring out books and cds said secretary of the trust santhosh who said that it would also impart training programs for performers. The trust has plans to set up a museum on ethnic music and instruments and bring out a journal apart from promoting research in the field
