Vagrancy acts - mentioned by the speaker - are relics from times of feudal bonded labour.

People in the cities who did not have a "master" could be imprisoned, eventually in workhouses.


They are parts of the enforcement of the system of bonded labour and serfdom on the land.


They have been maintained into present times in many countries, as an opportunistic trick to charge practically everyone in the cities.




"Free movement" - in the EU sense - has actually never been introduced.

Compliance with the EU accession - would require repeal of the vagrancy acts.


It would not look good - if it was publicly known that the UK has maintained feudal laws.


These Acts are simultaneously a method for the state to avoid responsibility for mass unemployment.
