BBC News is crap

The BBC is completely failing in its responsibility to educate and inform the public, particularly when it comes to the vital issue of human induced climate change. Here is a concrete example.

On 27th September 2013, between 10:30 and 13:00, BBC News 24 repeatedly stated that the IPCC report issued today had predicted that global temperatures would rise by between 0.3 and 4.5 °C by 2100. However, the IPCC website itself gives a different story (see  http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data/ar4/wg1/en/spmsspm-projections-of.html). Table SPM.3 shows that the lowest prediction of a 0.3°C rise would only have occurred if atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases had remained at the year 2000 level. Obviously that is no longer possible, since atmospheric levels have already risen. Also, under the A1FI scenario global temperatures could rise to a maximum of 6.4°C above the 1980-1999 level. That is close to 7.4°C above pre-industrial temperatures.
