Hands Off Syria Demo in Cambridge.

Yesterday (Wednesday) evening at 6:00pm prompt a small group of people gathered in The Market Square, Cambridge with a common purpose: to publically lodge their objection to our government bombing another Middle Eastern country in our name.

Band of Brothers, Sisters (and Dog)!

The press were there and did their usual stage managing of things (see pictures), so I hung back and took pictures of everything that happened!

At the time of writing U.N. inspectors are still in Syria attempting to ascertain whether or not a chemical attack by the Assad government has actually taken place or (as many of us suspect) it is complete fabrication, a pretext and for the U.K. and U.S.A. to launch a direct attack upon yet another country in the Middle East.

The whole sorry scenario has unsettling similaraties to what we saw being played out in the run up to the Iraq War in 2003, when it turned out that the original 'evidence' and justification for starting the war turned out to be lies, damned lies.

As a result at least 500,000 Human Beings are dead and a country is still in turmoil.

Meanwhile the multinationals sneak in behind the smokescreen of war and steal the oil from under the Iraqi peoples' feet, giving them no share of the profits.

This time though the consequences could be far more dire, as there are some very powerful forces lined up on either side.

This so-called "Humanitarian Intervention" (classic Newspeak there...) has the very real potential to not only leak across the borders of Syria into Turkey, Lebanon and back to Afghanistan, but possibly be used by the Israeli/U.S.A. axis as a pretext to launch an attack on Iran later - something they've both been chomping at the bit for years to carry out.

And then of course there is Russia.

Although they are currently saying they will not directly intervene, it is highly likely they would change their tune if there is a sustained military campaign by the U.K. and U.S.A. right on their southern borders, especially against a country they have openly pledged allegiance to.

In short, if this situation is as mismanaged in the way that Iraq and Afghanistan have been, it has the potential to spiral out of control and TRIGGER WORLD WAR THREE.

You think these are paranoid, sensationalist delusions by a conspiracy theorist (which I am not nor shall ever be)?

We shall see.

I sincerely hope that in these months leading up to the centenary of World War ONE that we won't be seeing another global conflict to mark the occasion's passing.

WE DO NOT NEED THAT KIND OF ANNIVERSARY!!
