Update for Croydon anti-EVF demo tomorrow

Far-right EDL splinter group the English Volunteer Force are demonstrating in Croydon tomorrow. They will be outside Lunar House - the home of the UK Border Agency. Antifascists will be there to oppose them. UPDATED INFO

London activists are being encouraged to gather at Brixton Windrush Square at 9.30am - everyone else get yourself to Lunar House Croydon, 11.30am.

The EVF demo is at 12.00, though they will likely be in the area from earlier.

There will not be queues of asylum seekers out the door of Lunar House as they have closed their enquiry counter for the day and people have had their appointments rescheduled. There may still be people wandering in and out of the building though.

We believe the UAF/TUC counter demo is unfortunately going to be on the other side of a large dual carriageway road from Lunar House.

At 2pm the racists will recongregate, this time under the banner of SEA, at The White Horse Pub, Woolwich Road, (nearest tube Charlton). They are planning to walk about 10 miles to Westminster and then to hold a rally.

So either get yourself directly there or antifascists have called out for a meet up at 3pm, junction of Deptford High St and New Cross Rd, to halt their march.

You people are insane because you want to abolish all immigration controls. If you abolished controls then what would stop the entire third world moving to the UK/USA/any highly developed country with social welfare? 2.7 billion people live on less than $2 a day - so it would make sense for them to move to a country where they will get more than that a day. If there are no controls then there would be like 500million people living in the UK and like 1.5 billion in America. What houses would they live in (it would give the entire UK a far greater population density than Tokyo)? Who would be paying for it? How would all our public services like roads and the NHS function? It's one of those things that is nice and idealistic and happy and rainbows but doesn't make a modicum of practical sense.

EVF meeting 11am at East Croydon, then heading to Lunar House 11.30am

The poor EVF couldn't find a pub to host them before their demo. They've regretfully decided to instead meet at East Croydon Station at 11am, gather there until 11.30am, and then head over to Lunar House.

Good on all the Croydon pubs who refused to host the fascists - maybe Woolwich's White Horse should be as principled? Ask them about it - 020 8854 2646.
