Support Needed: Calais Migrant Food Project 8-21st July

Y | 22.06.2013 18:29 | Migration | Repression | South Coast | World

Nottingham Migrant Solidarity is a group that aims to offer practical support to migrants on the France/UK border. Hundreds of people face destitution, brutality and harassment every day in Calais and most are fleeing violence and persecution in their home countries. We are a self-organised group who plan to give out free food to migrants in Calais between the 8th and 22nd July. In the months of July and August the charities who usually provide food are closed.This makes it imperative that groups such as ourselves distribute food during this period.

To be able to do so we need your help. Donations will help us fund;

-Channel crossing for van,
-Fuel for cooking and van,
-Pulses, grains and fresh vegetables,
-Construction of burners that can be used by other groups in the future.

If you are unable to contribute financially we are collecting pans and food donations to take down and welcome more volunteers to join us.

Would definitely be up for donating to this. Could it be reposted/endorsed on the website of some known and trusted organisation (eg calais MS) so that we know it's genuine? Otherwise anybody could put a call for donations up on indymedia and we wouldn't know who the money was really going to.

Cheers.
