Attached is an audio recording of the Stop G4S public meeting which was held in Sheffield on 12th June 2013.

The meeting was supported by the Sheffield Palestine Solidarity Campaign: "Palestine solidarity members have long had resaons to oppose G4S for its complicity in running Israeli security in the West Bank and Israel. We have been joined by campaigners for asylum seekers. G4S has been involved in brutal deportations and prisons. We have also been joined by campaigners who oppose privatisation."  http://sheffieldpsc.org.uk/

The meeting was also addressed by a speaker from the South Yorkshire branch of NAPO, the trade union for Probation and Family Court staff.

In criminal legal aid, the consultation forwards plans for a model of price competitive tendering. Bids will be invited below a fixed ceiling for batches of work around the country. It is a system in which only warehouse law firms will exist and high street firms will either die or be absorbed by large corporations intent on delivering legal services cheaply for maximum profit. The future will be one in which suspects are apprehended by G4S investigators, transported by G4S security, detained by G4S officers and imprisoned in G4S jails – at each stage represented by G4S lawyers.
