Stop G8 Convergence Space Going Well

Badger | 09.06.2013 09:32 | G8 2013 | Climate Chaos | Globalisation | Social Struggles | London

Bringing Anarchism back to Soho! The Convergence Space has kicked off well - but more people needed!

Come on down and join us to reclaim an empty building in the heart of London’s West End, and turn it into a vibrant social centre for talks, films, food, socialising, information and action. The address is:

40 Beak Street, Soho, W1F 9RQ.

Just off Regent street, in between Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus tube stations. (It’s also right in the centre of the #J11 carnival against capitalism map.)

The organisation has started, come down and help us.

There is room for people to stay, but please bring your own sleeping bags and bedding. Also note this is NOT a party space (gigs during the week will take place in separate venues), and please respect the safer spaces policy which you can read here.

The building is brilliant but, having been neglected and left empty, it needs some work to make it into a great space for the week. We are right now hard at work repairing, cleaning, and making stuff beautiful. Come along and join in. Also here is a list of stuff we need:

Cordless Drill

Furniture (all kinds)

Carpet / tiles

Sawdust

Don't any of you people work?

I walked past there around lunch time and saw many of you people hang around outside the building, so don't any of you people work? It is also a bit of a cheek for unemployed people to say they are against the system when they are claiming money from that same system and are not paying taxes like everyone else.

no one owes me a living

I paid £3,395 in taxes last year, although I wish bit of it were not going to military or new building of nuclear power plants by Energy giants e.on or EDF.

Because of wanting to put my energy into stopping militarism and climate problems, I decided to take a couple of days off work in central London to oppose the G8. I hope other workers do too.

If everyone just blindly works their jobs, acts like a good consumer, and never takes political action, than things will never change. Voting won't solve these problems!

i work and pay taxes as well, and yet i will be in central london tomorrow to take part in the proceedings which will hopefully be very colourful and vibrant and the weather will be nice.

and if we are lucky, a few capitalist symbols will be visited and we will reclaim the streets once again.
