A unique opportunity to watch a film telling the brave story of 9 men who stormed an arms factory in Derry, Northern Ireland and were acquitted despite having been arrested. It provides an uplifting account of how courts deemed it acceptable to resort to crime to tackle war crimes, and highlights the determination and importance of campaigning and protest!

The film will be followed by discussions and a chance to plan further actions through ought Britain, focusing especially on the DSEI arms fair in London in September.

Film screening, discussion and action planning for actions to oppose the DSEI arms fair in London in September.

On 12 August 2006, during the Israeli military campaign against Lebanon, 9 men stormed an arms factory in Derry, Northern Ireland. They caused an estimated £350,000 worth of damage and were arrested. They denied nothing, yet the jury acquitted them of all charges.

Renegade Films brings viewers an inspiring true story of resistance in times of peace and war. Risking imprisonment yet motivated by justice, this is a story of 9 men who took the law into their own hands to fight for a greater good.

Featuring interviews from the President of the Stop the War Coalition, Tony Benn and comedian and writer Mark Steel, this is a moving yet uplifting account of a struggle across continents. The film captures the landmark trial that said that resisting war crimes is not a crime. The arms trade is a deplorable, unethical industry which operates in their city, but not in their name.

"The Raytheon 9 are wonderful, inspiring people" Professor Noam Chomsky

The film screening will be followed by a discussion with campaigners from Campaign Against Arms Trade and War on Want (tbc), and sharing of plans and ideas for taking action against the arms fair in London in September.

£3 recommended donation on the door.
Cafe service from 6.30pm, film starts at 7.00pm.
