If the number of prisoners is your definition of a movement's success then you have a very warped view of success. While it is true that the animal rights movement (at least in the United Kingdom) isn't at its strongest point at the moment I don't think the fact that there are no animal rights prisoners at the moment (though quite a few have been released recently) has anything to do with the strength of the movement.
